The Klias Peninsula is an extensive wetland area of approximately 130,000 hectares located 100km southwest of Kota
Kinabalu. The Peninsula forms the floodplain for the Padas River and an extensive network of river channels.
A
newly gazetted area where proboscis monkeys, birds and reptiles can
be found. An
overnight trip staying at a seaside lodge in Kuala Penyu will
make the
trip a worthwhile one.
This
tour will take you on a wetland cruise along the Klias River onto
its tributaries
in search of the proboscis monkeys. Go
on a late evening firefly cruise to see the mangrove trees lining
the riverbanks glowing in the dark.
