DAY 1

We depart from the hotel in Miri early at 0615hrs to the Kuala Baram Jetty (35 minute drive) to board our express boat from there to Mulu. On the away, our boat journey will break and make a stop in Marudi town (2 hours) where we will have breakfast in the local bazaar. We will take a short stroll in this small yet rustic town before continuing on the express boat to Mulu (3hours). Along the way, this official boat ‘taxi’ stops at various villages along the river to drop off the natives at their longhouses and villages. The express boat journey ends at Long Terawan – longhouse dwelling of the Berawan tribe of Mulu.  Stretch you legs and we now transfer into open-air longboat to go upriver to Mulu (usually one hour but depending on river level). You will arrive the Royal Mulu Resort/Park chalet in the evening where you will check-in. Overnight resort/ park chalet. (L)

DAY 2

Breakfast is at leisure with a free morning for you to participate in the various recreational activities – or just relax by the only swimming pool in the jungle! (if you stay in the resort) In the afternoon we will start off with the first part of our Cave tour to the Deer and Lang Caves. Journey overland to the Mulu National Park will be around 5 minutes. Register at the park after which it will be a comfortable 3-km plank walk through the jungle to the caves. Wait for the bats’ exit outside the cave on the observation platform and return to the resort/park chalet late evening. Dinner and overnight Resort/park chalet. (B)

DAY 3

After breakfast this morning, our longboat ride will take 35 minutes. We will stopover at the penan settlement before visiting the Wind and Clearwater Caves. From the Wind cave, we will continue on the plankwalk flanking the limestone cliff to the Clearwater Cave. Picnic lunch is served at the Clearwater resthouse with some time to swim in the very cool natural pool outside the cave. Return to the resort/park chalet and you will check out for your return flight to Miri departing at 1600hrs (times differ on certain days). (B/L)
